Tranquility

For as long as I can remember I have been drawn to Light. It sparks my imagination and my musical memory. I feel an invitation to pause.

The craft of fine art photography has given me yet another avenue whereby I am able to enter into and celebrate the natural world which surrounds me: the moods of light with its quiet places, its joy, music and drama.

As a Chinese brush painter I am drawn to the harmony and mystery within Light. Chinese brush painters strive to achieve qi (chi), often described as the “essence” in their paintings with the goal to reveal an interplay between time and space as well as contrasts of light, space and shape.

Using a digital camera converted for infrared capture has sparked my imagination and presented surprising and challenging rewards. Upon enhancing the play of light in an image; discovering and exploring the contrast, highlights and shadows within; surreal, unique and hidden qualities are revealed .The seemingly ordinary is transformed and offers momentary pleasure in beauty; fragile, tranquil and fleeting.
