Elevators
The elevator is a hanging (floating) photographer’s studio – a box that contains a potential picture of people interacting. – I invite people to ride with me and have their picture taken. The boys I photographed this year used the elevator as a gym and ignored me. The Fogg Museum editors, by contrast were as still as talkative women can be. Something about the experience of mutual and brief enclosure brings my subjects close to each other and close to me.
