Bio
Michael Seif’s photographs have been shown in galleries and in juried shows throughout the United States and are in many private collections. His eight-year project photographing the human figure outdoors - on land and in water - has been exhibited widely, including a 2012 solo show, "The Fluid Figure," at the Griffin Museum of Photography and recent group shows: the "New England Photography Biennial 2011" at the Danforth Museum, Framingham MA; the "11th National Prize Show," of the Cambridge Art Association and in "Then and Now: The Enduring Allure of Light in Photography" at the Copley Society of Art, Boston, where his photograph received a Juror's Choice Award.
Michael's photographs reflect his varied background and interests. His current work, environmental portraits of artists, is a direct result of his experiences as a member of a cooperative gallery and years of studio visits where he has gained a deep appreciation for the ways in which people express themselves with hands, heads and hearts. His BS in zoology, work as a science writer and museum exhibit planner and frequent travels have resulted in portfolios of the natural world, the human body, street photography, and portraits of people around the world.
