Bio

Sharon Devereux is a photographer with diverse interests. Coming from a background in interior design she is drawn to abstract graphic forms & patterns, reflections and layers in the built environment and in nature. Her street photography provides a vehicle for not only interacting with street life but a means of sharing her way of seeing with others.

Currently her work can be seen at the Danforth Museums “Off the Wall” 2012 exhibit. Recent feature exhibitions include The Griffin Museum of Photography “Street Stage” 2011 and The Accidental Gallery“Street Stage” 2011. Accompanying these exhibits was the self-published photography book “Street Stage ~Takin’ It To The Streets,” a collaborative effort which included poetry written by the photographers. Her work has appeared in recent group exhibitions at the Danforth Museum “Off the Wall” 2011; Fountain Street Fine Art “Industrial Strength”; Fountain Street Fine Art “Unscripted”; Moakley Courthouse “Neighborhood Retrospective”; Brookline Public Library “Neighborhood Retrospective”.

With a degree in Interior Design, Sharon ultimately became co-owner of a successful architecture and interior design firm. She continued her studies in many areas, including photography, at Lesley University and the Boston Architectural Center; currently she is attending the Photography Atelier program at the Griffin Museum. Sharon volunteered as Curator of the 80 Border Street Cultural Exchange Center in Boston, MA in 2010 – some of the highlights, Jazz Week East (part of Jazz Boston 10) and Zumix (music and youth development nonprofit organization). She has event photography experience in the Boston area and has also assisted other photographers and artists in marketing their photography including exhibition design and graphics support. Devereux is a member of the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston.
