Bio
I photograph the places that I enjoy, and I am drawn to photograph the natural landscape. As a geologist and teacher, I started taking photographs so that I could show examples of various geologic concepts to my students. Soon I was improving the technical and aesthetic aspects of the images. My interests have evolved, and my current focus is environmental fine art photography. Since form, light, and edges define the urban environment as well as the natural, my work includes the human-influenced landscape.
When viewing the sweep of the landscape around me I take pride in capturing the details, colors, and shapes of a small section that will represent the whole. The intimate scale makes the grand more accessible. Details create memories. I strive to define the moment with a sense of place; a sense of time.
