Bio
Karen Davis’s photographs are in the collections of the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, the Lishui Museum of Photography, the Houghton Rare Books Library, Harvard University and in corporate and private collections. Her MASS MoCA Restroom Portfolio prints are displayed at MASS MoCA, North Adams MA.
A recipient of the 2009 Artists Fellowship Award from the CPW and a 2011 New York Foundation of Art’s (NYFA) MARK artist, recent exhibits include the: Cabane Gallery, Phoenicia NY, Great South Bay Gallery, Hudson NY, Lishui International Photography Festival, China, Bromfield Gallery, Boston, MA and Griffin Museum of Photography. She was selected as featured artist in the 2006 inaugural issue of The Women’s Review of Books and in 2005, three of her photographs were exhibited in “hrlm: pictures” at the Studio Museum in Harlem.
She and her husband, Mark Orton, are co-directors of the Davis Orton Gallery, 114 Warren Street, Hudson NY. Karen, teaches photo-based courses including Photography Atelier at the Griffin Museum of Photography and in Hudson at the Davis Orton Gallery.She has been invited to review portfolios at FotoFest, Houston TX, Photolucida and Critical Mass, Portland OR and the Griffin/PRC Portfolio Reviews in Boston.
