Summer's Farewell

I have always loved to walk along the wavebeaten sandy coastline of the sea.  I watch the child running over the sandy summer beach toward the sea and I recognize myself....drawn and captured by the beauty and the silence.... and on this late summer afternoon a mysterious veil of light.

If one can listen the sea can teach us to dream. The sea is at once a mirror as well as a window....holding reflections of long carefree summertime days ....now quiet.... offering a place for imagination and memory. For me....  in this space....there is always a profound sense of time and timelessness.

At “Summer’s Farewell”, the crowds have gone and for a time the sea and the beach are quiet....save for a few children catching crabs on the jetty and the rush of a startled flock of blackbirds.
