Fall
Fall is a time of transitions and memories of shared experiences with family. As I photograph a Fall landscape I see a series of images that are related or connected in a meaningful way to me. My photographs, assembled into triptychs, reflect my experiences of this season in a way that a single image cannot.
Fall is a time of fleeting beauty. Leaves turn brilliant reds and yellows then die and fall, leaving bare tree branches silhouetted against the sky. Colorful fruits and vegetables are harvested, leaving fields barren until Spring. Meadows and marshes turn bright colors before they too settle down, brown for Winter.
Fall has been a time for the pleasures of travel with family; through scenic New England, to Cornwall to research a family name, and to Japan to visit a daughter teaching there. The colors and transitions of Fall in these places around the world are surprisingly similar, reinforcing for me the importance of this time of year.
