Carnival at Night

There is a feeling of excitement as the machinery of the carnival comes to life after lying silent all day. Whizzing shapes blaze trails of color and light behind them as they fly through the night sky. I am trying to discover how the camera captures light as it travels, creating abstract patterns that correspond to the speed of the moving object. A trace of the original remains behind, but the camera is able to reach beyond what can be seen and paint an entirely new picture.
