About Atelier

Photography Atelier, now in its thirteenth year, is a portfolio-building course for emerging and advanced photographers taught by Holly Smith Pedlosky and Karen Davis and offered through the Seminar Series in the Arts, The Art Institute of Boston (AIB) at Lesley University.

Instruction in the Atelier includes presentations which consider contemporary trends in photography; assignments designed to encourage experimentation in both subject matter and approach; and group critiques to help each participant create a strong portfolio. Students’ work appears on the Photography Atelier website: www.photographyatelier.org and in an annual exhibition at Lesley University. Images made with film or digital media – SLRs, plastic cameras, cell phones, and alternative methods are welcome. In addition to portfolios, other final formats such as photobooks and mixed and multi-media works are encouraged.

BECOME A PART OF THE FALL 2010 CLASS! The next Photography Atelier with instructor Karen Davis will start in Fall, 2010.
