Bio
Gai Samuelson photographs important moments in her life: her father’s Alzheimer’s Disease (Down Hill All the Way), her breast surgery (My New Bra), her 26-year-old daughter’s return home (Jessie), and an on-going series of self-portraits.
Several images from Gail’s most recent portfolio, Layers 6.0, were selected for gallery exhibits in 2013: she received the Juror’s Choice award from the Kiernan Gallery in Lexington, VA, and her work was selected for both the Self Portrait and Nostalgia exhibits at the PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, VT. Her work was also exhibited at the Cambridge Art Association 2012 Blue Competition, and she received a prize for her cell phone photography in 2011 from the Texas Photographic Society. Gail also exhibits at many group Atelier shows at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA.
Gail studied photography at Massachusetts College of Art, New England School of Photography, Art Institute of Boston, Photographic Resource Center of Boston, Photography Atelier at Lesley University, and the Griffin Museum of Photography. She earned an MBA from Simmons School of Management in Boston and has managed her own photography business since 1992.
