Seijaku (Stillness)

I am Chinese and am strongly influenced by classic Asian art and calligraphy. I practice Zen Buddhism and have developed a deep appreciation of the importance of nature in helping us to maintain balance.

This body of work is entitled Seijaku. It is the Japanese word for quietness and stillness and is reflective of my personal aesthetic, a viewpoint that conveys the beauty of nature by reducing it to its most essential elements. I find that stripping away the superfluous releases the beauty of form to emerge.

These minimalist photographs reflect what I seek in my relationship to nature - solitude, clarity, and harmony.
