About the WorkThis series began with my collecting vintage children’s clothes about a year ago. I found a way to use Rabbit Skin Glue, often used by Renaissance painters to prepare their canvas, to stiffen and transform the clothes into child shapes. I shaped them with dolls and dress forms and beach balls and polyfill. I have loved fabrics and clothes since I learned to sew in grade school. These clothes bring to mind a sense of sweetness and innocence and possibility, representing the lost childhood in all of us. I took them to places that were familiar from my childhood; I took them to places unfamiliar, moved be the curious and adventurous spirit of childhood. I see in them autobiographical and universal expression.
