About the WorkHundreds of thousands of life’s precious possessions from many pasts conceal as many stories and await their next chapters in the dusty fields of Brimfield when this sleepy town wakes up three times a year for the antique shows. I started going regularly because I had a Victorian house with much space to fill, but now it is full to overflowing. I felt I had to stop my regular visits, but I missed the treasure hunt, so now I bring home pictures instead. After a long conversation with a Native American doll-maker at a recent show, she inspired me to investigate the centuries of female spirits past in the fields of Brimfield. I gave the various guises of the females, from childhood dolls to mannequins to dismembered body parts, new life - framed in the detritus of old building parts that have been recycled into frames. Taking just the pictures allows me to share the memories of past eras so that everyone can spin their own new stories for them and leaves the objects themselves for others to collect, treasure and reveal the next chapters.
