Meltdown!Meltdown!
The economic downturn has impacted my family and most people I know.
I wanted to photographically explore the stories behind the headlines through the experiences and feelings of people on the street. I also became aware of my own reactions to what I was shooting. Anger, frustration, anxiety, denial, sympathy, resilience, courage and hope – all became part of the collective narrative.
Capturing these images has heightened my sensitivity to both the political and personal dimensions of the meltdown, and given me a positive way to deal with a difficult time.
