About the Artist

Susan Mara Bregman is a Boston-based photographer. As a film photographer, she favors the Holga, a plastic camera with its charming imperfections and slightly blurry point of view that she uses to transform familiar urban images into something abstract and universal.

Susan’s photographs of trains, buses, and bridges have been accepted into juried exhibitions throughout Massachusetts and beyond. Venues include Arsenal Center for the Arts, University Place Gallery, Bromfield Gallery, Newton Free Library, Nave Gallery, and the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins (CO). Her work is also showcased in a permanent installation in the lobby of Adobe Systems in Waltham (MA), for which she was commissioned to take photographs of Waltham and Boston in her distinctive style.

Susan has studied at Lesley University’s Photography Atelier, New England School of Photography, DeCordova Museum, and the Maine Photographic Workshops. She also holds a master’s degree in city and regional planning and, when she’s not taking pictures, she works as a transit policy analyst. Her images may be seen at www.rednickel.com.
