About the WorkIt all started with the Eiffel Tower. I came back from a whirlwind trip to Paris with a bunch of negatives, mostly of the Eiffel Tower. Problem was, most people assumed I was shooting the Northern Avenue Bridge or the Central Artery. (Except for the guy who thought it was Paris Las Vegas, but that’s another story.) So I had one of those ‘Aha!’ moments and starting looking a little closer to home. I use a Holga, a plastic camera with its charming imperfections and slightly blurry point of view to transform the utilitarian bridges that span rivers and railroad tracks into something abstract and universal. And what about Paris? One day the guy at the camera store looked at some shots of the Congress Street Bridge and asked, ‘Is that the Eiffel Tower?’ I had come full circle.
